| Combe Down |
English Chalk Downland is famed as a landscape with rolling, open expanses of grassland with a very special mix of wild flora and fauna. However it has undergone rapid change since industrialised farming and the "food rush" of World War II. Most ancient native grassland has been ploughed up or replaced with more productive modern grass varieties, reaping a huge decline in biodiversity. |
