As scary as this huge wasp looks, they are actually not very aggressive to humans, and I suspect that it's because they know they can take care of themselves and they can definitely handle a clumsy ape. This beastie let me get right up close and didn't bat an eyelid.

In fact I have never seen a hornet bat an eyelid.
